fake reviews are turning shoppers away from medicines

In India, over 42% of online shoppers in tier 2, 3 cities are turning away from purchasing medicines and health and wellness products due to the presence of fake reviews!

I was recently reading a PwC India report written in 2024, where I found this data. This is a huge number and lots of monetary value lost due to lack of trust and transparency.

Have you ever gone to Amazon reviews and seen very long descriptive well formatted reviews? Yep. Those are most likely the fake ones. How do you spot a fake review?

  • They usually have overly promotional language
  • There is similar wording across multiple reviews, often posted in quick succession.
  • Five star reviews that are complemented by vague statements that don't offer any value

Hm. So what? Why bother you ask? Here's where the business opportunity lies!

Present yourself as a source of truth in terms of medicine reviews. A trusted website just for genuine, verified reviews of all medicines. Collect genuine feedback, go deep in ingredients, long term maybe conduct own tests and present results. Next step would be to partner with a highly trusted online food or medicine reviewer, someone like Revant Himatsingka (Food Pharmer) would be a fantastic choice!

Why now? With AI's rapid evolution, I think the problem of fake reviews will only worsen within the next 4-6 months. This makes creating a reliable review platform not just beneficial but necessary!
